Aber weißt du was, Con?

The thing about getting sick as a parent is that it just doesn’t work.. you don’t get sick days, you have to carry on. Even when you can’t. 🌸 Gastro’s terrible for everyone, but never have I experienced anything as bad as the gastro of a breastfeeding mother… 🌸 You are literally being exhausted from everywhere, shitting, spewing and then the predators want to suck whatever drop of life you have left in you out of your boobs. 🌸 Depleted. 🌸 I remember the day clearly, I was lying on the couch, in my undies, only getting up to avoid shitting myself, with a bucket next to me to spew in. The children who bought me this particular plague were feeling better. 🌸 Children are like dogs, they smell fear, they smell vulnerability and they swoop… 🌸 Taking full advantage I was too weak to even flinch when hearing the sound of the kitchen chair being dragged to the top cupboards so their small yet cunning little bodies could reach my chocolate stash. 🌸 I would lie in silence, too weak to stop them, hoping they didn’t see or hear me and attack with another request, for a different DVD or a cordial, or to dob on each other, demanding retribution. 🌸 But my luck ran out.. and I heard the whisper “shhh let’s get mum” As the ran off. 🌸 Scared, weak and alone I lay there. Holding back vomit, wondering how long until I’d need to change my undies, to sick to even call my mum for back up. 🌸 And then it began.. 🌸 The kids decided to cover me in books. They started with my feet, all the way up to my head I was actually completely buried in books. Unable to move I accepted my fate as the piled novels and encyclopaedias on top of my frail body. Just when I thought the attack, was over and they had found something else to destroy Arlo realised he was hungry. 🌸 So he removed one book. 🌸 The book covering the nipple of my best performing feeding boob. And he sat and had his drink. 🌸 This is how he left me, covered everywhere but my nipple so he could return when it was needed. 🌸 Used and abused. 🌸 So if there are any sick parents out there, I am thinking about you and your amazing super human strength. 🌸
